MBSK Colorado Community

Building partnerships to support Colorado's Black and Brown youth

MBSK Colorado Community

The MBSK Colorado Community serves as a statewide leader and collaborator for youth of color and the agencies, schools, businesses, and community organizations that support them. We help bridge gaps across Colorado's resources to build a more complete, aligned approach to intergenerational trauma and systemic barriers—and to strengthen life-course outcomes for Black and Brown communities.

Resource Groups

Alliance Leadership Cabinet

This group is the center and leader of the alliance, with a joint understanding of the impact of racialized trauma across our systems and a shared vision for transformative change (MBSKSF, 2019). The Alliance Leadership Cabinet guides alignment, coordination, and shared accountability across community organizations, city, county, state, and youth leaders.

Thirty-three champions—drawn from a diverse cross-section of partners—build community, lift best practices, and hold one another accountable. For continuity, champions are asked to serve a minimum of 18 months, committing organizational and individual expertise to the Colorado Alliance. The cabinet is advanced, supported, and held accountable by a backbone of facilitators, fellows, and advisors aligned with the national My Brother's Keeper Alliance framework.

The Alliance Leadership Cabinet advances practical plans to:

  1. Make local, county, and state government services more equitable for residents.
  2. Advise partners to use an equity lens in delivering services and ensure community involvement across government decisions.
  3. Showcase people, ideas, and communities at the vanguard of equity work in Colorado and nationally.
  4. Inspire courageous conversation on equity in education, health, technology, criminal justice, transportation, housing, and related topics.
  5. Build bonds that place accountability and capacity at the center of the Alliance's work, elevating high-risk places and populations.
  6. Create race- and gender-specific targeted programming with partners.

Alliance Advisory Groups

The Alliance Cabinet breaks down into monthly sub-advisory groups to promote and drive its initiatives in collaboration with MBSK Colorado initiative leaders, departments, and programs. Advisory groups serve as a resource to nonprofit leaders—a sounding board and platform for future initiatives in each strategic area.

More information on advisory group participation is coming soon.
